Epic Crude Oil Pipeline in Texas set for third open season

Epic Crude Holdings, a subsidiary of Epic Midstream, has opened a third open season for the 730-mile long Epic Crude Oil Pipeline in Texas, as per the latest midstream oil industry news.

The open season for the crude oil pipeline will begin on 28 October 2019 and will end on 17 December 2019.

According to Epic Midstream, the Epic Crude Oil Pipeline closed its first open season successfully on 26 July 2018 and its second open season on 28 September 2018.

The crude oil pipeline has been laid parallel to the Epic Y-Grade Pipeline that spans from Orla, Texas to the Port of Corpus Christi and includes terminals located in Orla, Saragosa, Crane, Wink, Hobson, Midland, Upton, and Gardendale. The pipeline has connectivity to the Corpus Refining market and also various terminals in the Port of Corpus Christi for export access.

The Epic Crude Oil Pipeline transports crude oil produced from the Delaware, Midland and Eagle Ford Basins.

Epic Crude Holdings started interim crude operations in August 2019, using the 24-inch Y-Grade Pipeline, which can transport up to 400,000 barrels of oil per day (MBbl/d) and spans from Crane, Texas to terminals in Corpus Christi and Ingleside.

After the planned 30-inch Epic Crude Oil Pipeline is completed in the first quarter of 2020, Epic Crude Holdings will have an initial capacity to ship 600 MBbl/d. The Epic Crude Oil Pipeline can be expanded to transport up to 900 MBbl/d of crude oil.

Epic Midstream said that the Epic Crude Export Dock in Corpus Christi is likely to be completed in Q42019 and can load Aframax tankers that carry up to 750 MBbl. Apart from that, EPIC Crude Holdings is constructing a second crude export dock, which will be ready by Q3 2020, and will have the capability of loading Suezmax tankers that transport up to 1,000 MBbl.
